About SecretServer.io

Built by the team at After Dark Systems — engineers who got tired of credentials showing up in Slack messages, Notion pages, and sticky notes.

Our Story

After Dark Systems has been building infrastructure and security tooling since 2019. Over the years, we kept solving the same problem for clients: secrets scattered across too many places, with no audit trail, no rotation policy, and no way to safely share them across teams.

We built SecretServer.io because existing tools were either too expensive for small teams, too complex to self-host, or too generic to handle the real variety of credential types we see in production environments — disk encryption keys, LDAP bind passwords, code signing certs, and everything in between.

What We Believe

  • Secrets belong in a vault
Every sensitive value is stored in HashiCorp Vault — not your database, not your config files, not environment variables checked into git.
  • Audit trails aren't optional
Every read, write, share, and rotation is logged. You should always know who accessed what and when.
  • Sharing should be controlled
Real access control with expiry dates, not copy-pasting into chat. Time-limited tokens for scripts and one-off needs.
  • History matters
When something breaks after a rotation, you need to get the previous value back in seconds, not hours.
